The person in this position will perform general office tasks including sorting and distributing mail, data entry, inventory, and scanning/copying. In this position, students learn and build vital career-readiness skills in the primary areas below: Communication, Teamwork, & Professionalism.Position Duties 40% - Office SupportAnswer the phone, screen and direct incoming calls, take messages and distribute information promptly. Greet visitors, staff: give instructions and information when requested. Communicate inclusively with a broad and diverse audience.Prepare bulk mailings and other mail. Scan documents and make copies. Organize and maintain office files. Open and close facilities (if needed); lock doors. Other assigned daily office tasks as needed.40% - Marketing, Web Content, Social Media & OutreachManage department website by designing, developing content and maintaining/updating as needed. This may include promotional flyers and videos for courses, guest speakers, seminar series and Horticulture events. Review and audit each webpage quarterly. Propose website organization and navigation updates as requested. Manage social media presence for department. This includes collecting and promoting department news, awards, updates, etc. Manage all digital TV and bulletin board marketing. Solicit content, develop and distribute quarterly department newsletter. Develop "Welcome to Horticulture" packet for in-person department visitors. Attend and document department events by taking photos and maintaining photo database.20% - Data Entry and ProjectsPrepare written materials: correspondence, reports and materials required for programs/by staff. Input data into various computer programs/files. Track and process invoices. Document and audit office procedures. A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.Additional Required Qualifications Current student at Oregon State UniversityCurrently declared major or minor in Agricultural SciencesAvailable to work Fall 2025 - Spring 2026, with the option to continue to work for the office the next academic year, if still a studentMust be able to work at least 10 hours per week during times the office is open. Our hours are 7:30 am -11:30 am and 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm.Experience with Microsoft office suite programs (Outlook, Excel, Word)Must be reliable and adhere to an assigned work schedule each termDemonstrates attention to detail and independent work styleDemonstrated strong communication skillsAbility to prioritize and multitaskAbility to learn new software Preferred (Special) Qualifications Experience with maintenance of websites and social media platforms.Experience with marketing and communication outreach.
