We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Entry-Level Welding Shop Trainee to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience and grow within the steel fabrication industry. As a trainee, you will work closely with experienced professionals to develop your skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cutting, Coping & Shaping: Use torch, grinder, drill press, mag drill, piranha, cold saw, and track burner to cut and shape steel members according to shop drawings.
• Material Preparation: Make markings and/or center punches on materials for proper preparation.
• Assembly & Tack Welding: Assist in assembling steel components by tack welding items such as stiffener plates, cap plates, beams, columns, stairs, and frames (ranging from simple to intricate).
• Material Handling: Move and flip materials using overhead and/or jib cranes as needed.
• Cleaning & Deburring: Clean, de-scale, and deburr materials to ensure quality and precision.
• Weld Grinding: Grind welds to ensure smoothness and structural integrity.
• Assist with Fit-Up & Welding: Support material handling for fit-up, press breaks, shears, staging, welding, and layout.
• Welding: Perform welding on components such as base plates, stiffener plates, cap plates, bollards, pipe, and columns.
• Painting & Prepping: Degrease and prep materials for painting (polishing, grinding, masking), and apply paint using spray guns, aerosol cans, rollers, or brushes.
• Assist with Drilling: Assist in drilling holes in components as required.

Preferred Education, Experience, Qualifications, and Other Requirements:

• Education: GED or High School Diploma (not necessarily required).
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and remain on your feet for extended periods.
• 1st and 2nd shift $18. 50/hr
