Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dynamic, resourceful, and entrepreneurial-minded Senior Traffic Engineer to lead and expand our traffic engineering practice working from our Brooklyn office (hybrid), Patchogue office (hybrid), or fully remote. This role will serve as the primary point of contact for our clients in the region, providing high-quality technical expertise and project leadership, with the flexibility and opportunity to grow into a broader leadership role within the firm. Duties Manage and deliver traffic engineering projects, ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction. Lead and direct staff in performing traffic studies, analyses, and the preparation of engineering deliverables. Attend and represent the firm at daytime and evening public meetings in support of projects. Drive targeted business development efforts to grow the firm’s traffic engineering portfolio on Long Island. Maintain and build strong client relationships and serve as a trusted advisor for traffic engineering services. Prepare competitive proposals and pursue prospective opportunities to expand our client base. Collaborate with transportation professionals operating in the NYC metro area to support projects and activities across the wider region. Role Details This position offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to build, lead, and shape the firm’s traffic engineering presence on Long Island, while working alongside a talented regional team. The role provides a clear path to leadership for those with the vision and drive to grow both the practice and client relationships. Qualifications 8+ years’ experience in traffic engineering and transportation planning with at least 4 years’ experience managing projects and handling clients; NYS PE License (or ability to acquire in 6 months). PTOE certification a plus B.S. degree in civil engineering Familiarity with NYSDOT requirements; familiarity with Long Island geography a plus. Excellent communication and public speaking skills. Strong project management skills. Deep understanding and mastery of traffic engineering and transportation planning principles as they relate to both private and public projects/clients. Ability and willingness to travel within NYC metro area to visit project sites and attend meetings. Ability and willingness to conduct business development activities within target market. Salary and Benefits Salary Range: $125,000 - $190,000 per year. The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
