Key Responsibilities:

1. Sample Collection & Handling

   • Collect, transport, receive, and store blood, urine, stool, tissue, and other bodily samples.
   • Ensure proper labeling and documentation of samples.

2. Testing & Analysis

   • Conduct routine and specialized tests on body fluids and tissues.
   • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment (e.g., microscopes, centrifuges, analyzers).
   • Prepare reagents and solutions for testing.

3. Reporting & Documentation

   • Record and interpret test results accurately.
   • Prepare detailed reports for physicians and healthcare providers.
   • Maintain laboratory records and update the Laboratory Information System (LIS).

4. Quality Assurance & Safety

   • Follow biomedical waste disposal protocols.
   • Ensure infection control and safety procedures are strictly followed.
   • Monitor and assure quality through internal audits and calibration.

5. Equipment Maintenance

   • Calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments.
   • Ensure equipment is clean and functioning optimally.

6. Collaboration & Communication

   • Work closely with doctors and healthcare teams to support diagnosis and treatment.
   • Provide technical guidance to junior lab staff.

7. Compliance & Ethics

   • Adhere to the professional code of conduct.
   • Act within the limits of competence and authority.
   • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.

Qualifications:

• Educational Requirement: Diploma or Bachelor's in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT/BMLT)
• Certifications: Registration with the relevant medical council (if applicable)
• Experience: Freshers and experienced candidates both eligible; experience preferred for senior roles

Skills Required:

• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and microbiology
• Proficiency in operating lab equipment and software
• Attention to detail and analytical thinking
• Communication and teamwork skills
• Commitment to safety and quality standards

Orientation: 1 week. Shifts: D | E, call over night & weekends - hospital is 24/7. Notes: familiarity with patient collections a must, familiarity with Meditech, Beckman Chemistry, Sysmex Hematolog and basic transfusion medicine very helpful.
