Job Description:

CNAs Technology Segment includes specialized coverage such as Tech E&O, CNA NetProtect, and traditional domestic property and casualty lines. Our focus is on the technology segment, including Software/Hardware Manufacturing, Programmers, IT Consultants, Telecommunications Providers, ISP, ASP, serving both small (<$100M) and large (up to $2.5B) businesses, domestically and internationally.

The successful candidate will lead a team of underwriters in a territory, driving business strategy and growth through industry relationships, sales, and marketing, with a focus on complex underwriting issues related to information assets, intellectual property, and computer resources. Candidates should have a proven track record in underwriting success within carrier or broker environments, with experience across commercial middle markets Property & Casualty, Errors & Omissions, and Professional Liability products.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Implement strategic objectives, underwriting strategies, and best practices impacting short-term product success.
• Ensure profitability, growth, and operational efficiency by assessing risk tolerance, market appetite, and emerging risks.
• Evaluate underwriting performance through financial analysis, rate adequacy, reserves, and operational reviews, and develop improvement plans.
• Monitor profitability of alternative pricing programs.
• Ensure adherence to underwriting authority, audit standards, and catastrophe protocols.
• Collaborate with Risk Control, Actuarial, Claims, Operations, and Compliance teams on governance and underwriting practices.
• Guide the development of underwriting and training tools.
• Manage staff, focusing on talent development and succession planning.
• Lead development of underwriting strategies for emerging issues as assigned.
• Maintain relationships with brokers, agents, and clients to assess risk and market trends.

Reporting Relationship:

Typically VP level or above

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

1. Deep technical knowledge of insurance underwriting theories and practices.
2. Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
3. Leadership and management capabilities with integrity and professionalism.
4. Results-driven problem-solving skills.
5. Industry knowledge of insurance products and services.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software.

Education & Experience:

1. Bachelors degree required; Masters preferred.
2. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in management.
3. Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation preferred.
