Agentic AI Engineer – NODA AI
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid on-site, with up to 15% travel)
Clearance Requirement: U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance
About NODA
NODA is a veteran-owned, venture-backed technology company transforming how unmanned systems collaborate in complex, mission-critical environments. Our distributed orchestration platform enables autonomous coordination of heterogeneous unmanned systems across air, sea, land, and space.
We operate at the intersection of AI, robotics, and human–machine teaming , building capabilities that matter for national defense and beyond. Our engineers work on meaningful technology deployed in the real world, where reliability and adaptability directly impact operational success.
The Role
We are seeking an Agentic AI Engineer to design and implement intelligent agents that drive adaptive mission planning and orchestration across multi-domain unmanned systems. This role sits at the convergence of large language models, reasoning frameworks, and robotics autonomy layers (ROS2, Gazebo, navigation stacks).
You will build systems that translate mission intent into actionable tasks, dynamically replan as environments change, and provide transparent reasoning to operators. Success in this role requires deep technical skill, systems thinking, and a passion for delivering reliable autonomy in contested domains .
Key Responsibilities
Integrate LLM orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, ReAct-style planners) into NODA’s orchestration stack.
Collaborate with autonomy teams to develop a reasoning framework for task decomposition, task scheduling, and task allocation.
Implement human-in-the-loop workflows for operator trust and explainability of AI-generated plans.
Manage the full lifecycle of AI agents (models, prompts, tools, memory) with safe deployment and rollback practices.
Work with data engineers to pipeline sensor and mission data into structured AI-ingestible formats.
Validate agentic behaviors through simulation-in-loop testing prior to live deployment.
Build and maintain evaluation, monitoring, and logging systems to track agent performance, cost, and reliability.
Integrate external tools/APIs into agent workflows with strong version control and dependency management.
Design testing and release pipelines (CI/CD, canary/blue-green deploys, feature flags) to ensure safe iteration in production.
Contribute to secure and resilient agent execution in denied, degraded, and contested comms environments.
Prototype and validate agent behaviors in both simulation-in-loop and hardware-in-loop environments to ensure readiness for field deployment.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience in AI/ML applications (LLM orchestration, autonomous decision-making, or planning systems).
Proficiency in Python and frameworks such as LangChain or equivalent.
Familiarity with constraint solving, planning algorithms, or symbolic reasoning. [DR2]
Familiarity with distributed systems and real-time orchestration.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines.
U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain a clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with multi-agent coordination frameworks or reinforcement learning for planning.
Understanding of secure coding and adversarial robustness in AI-driven systems.
Exposure to autonomous vehicles (UAVs, USVs, UUVs).
Familiarity with simulation-in-loop or hardware-in-loop testing.
Hands-on experience with robotics/autonomy frameworks (ROS2, Gazebo, navigation stacks) and
Experience with deploying AI/ML logic to edge devices (Jetson, Raspberry Pi, or similar low-SWaP hardware).
Background in data engineering or structured data prep for AI ingestion. Prototype lightweight data-prep pipelines to ensure AI agents can run even before full data engineering support is in place.
Contributions to open-source AI or robotics projects.
Skills & Attributes
Systems thinker : able to connect AI outputs to real-world autonomy stacks.
Fast learner with adaptability to evolving AI/ML frameworks.
Thrives in ambiguous, mission-driven problem spaces.
